Policies

Bangalow Community Children's Centre policies and procedures reflect current best practice, recommended guidelines, and the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations.

At Bangalow Community Children's Centre, our policies and procedures are developed and reviewed through a consultative process that involves input from families, educators, and relevant agencies, including government departments. We also welcome suggestions and reviews to enhance our services. Please share your feedback by filling out this form and sending it to our email admin@bangalowccc.com.au

Safe Use of Digital Technologies and Online Environments

Our Service is committed to providing a safe, secure and age-appropriate digital environment for all children. As a child safe organisation, we implement the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, comply with the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations, and meet the 2025 Digital Safety Requirements under Regulation 168 and the National Model Code on the Safe Use of Digital Devices.

We ensure children’s privacy, wellbeing and safety are prioritised whenever digital technologies are used. We use only service-issued devices, child-safe search engines such as Kiddle, and maintain strong privacy filters and security controls. All digital use is supervised, intentional and developmentally appropriate.

Our Service also follows the Australian Physical Activity and Sedentary Behaviour Guidelines, which recommend minimal sedentary screen time for young children. Screen use is therefore limited, purposeful and directly connected to curriculum learning—examples include children participating in yoga sessions, exploring music and movement clips, or conducting supervised online research to extend learning.

We ask families to support a safe environment by following these expectations:

Personal Device Use

  • Children must not bring personal electronic devices (such as smartphones, tablets, smart watches or gaming devices) to the Service.

  • Parents and visitors must avoid using personal mobile phones or devices while inside the Service, except in emergencies or with staff authorisation.

Images, Videos and Information Sharing

To protect all children’s privacy and meet national digital safety regulations:

  • Families must not take photos, videos or audio recordings of any child on the Service premises

  • Families must not store, post or share images, videos or personal information about children on personal devices, social media or messaging platforms.

  • Any concerns regarding digital or online safety should be raised through our Dealing with Complaints Policy.

To support children’s learning, communication and developmental documentation, the Service may:

  • Capture photos, videos or audio recordings of children using service-issued devices only.

  • Include children’s images, videos and artwork in internal learning documentation, displayed within the Service or shared with families.

  • Use digital materials to support staff training, educator planning or development.

  • Use selected images or videos in Service communications such as newsletters, educational displays, or (with appropriate permission) public platforms such as the Service website (no faces showing).

  • Store digital records securely and destroy them according to our Record Keeping and Retention Policy.

Children may also be provided with supervised opportunities to access online educational material—such as KidsTube yoga, documentaries, or guided Kiddle searches—within the limits recommended by national screen time guidelines.

All images, videos and digital information are handled in accordance with our Privacy, Confidentiality and Safe Use of Digital Technologies Policies.

During the enrolment process families will be asked to provide permission for:

  • Educators to use service-issued devices to capture images or videos for internal documentation, planning, safety or training purposes.

  • Children’s learning documentation, images, videos and artwork to be shared within the Service community (for example, through room displays or newsletter)

  • Children’s images or videos to be used for early childhood student training or assessment, where materials may be securely transferred outside the Service as required.

  • Children’s images, videos or artwork to be used in the Service’s public communications (website, social media or promotional materials), in line with strict privacy and digital safety requirements.

  • Children to access online educational content as described above.

Families may withdraw any part of this authorisation at any time by providing written notice to the office email admin@bangalowccc.com.au
